Smithfield Public Schools Athletic Complex
Boyle Athletic Complex at Smithfield High School is a state-of-the-art facility that enriches both athletic and educational experiences for the Smithfield community. Located on the high school campus, home of the Sentinels, this cutting-edge complex sets a benchmark for modern, sustainable, and inclusive athletic environments.
Project Highlights:
-
Multi-Sport Synthetic Turf Field
At the heart of the complex is a 110,880-square-foot synthetic turf field designed to accommodate football, soccer, lacrosse, and field hockey. Engineered with 100% recycled materials, the field utilizes the Brockfill + Shockpad Series system to ensure high performance, durability, and environmental sustainability. -
Throwing Event Fields
The project also features newly installed throwing event fields, expanding opportunities for track and field athletes. -
ADA-Compliant Accessibility
Fully upgraded walkways and bleachers meet ADA standards, creating an inclusive and welcoming space for all athletes, spectators, and community members.
Beyond the Field:
The project also addressed essential infrastructure upgrades including the removal and replacement of ten rooftop air-handling units, ranging from 3-ton to 15-ton capacities, and the installation of two air-cooled condensers. The new energy-efficient systems align with the Northeast Collaborative for High Performance Schools (NE-CHPS) standards, emphasizing sustainability and supporting a healthy environment for students.
